Wastewater treatments for septic tanks are essential in helping to conserve and make the environment safe. Wastewater as you all know contains pollutants that may destroy the environment if released directly to the bodies of water if it is not treated. In large cities, wastewater from domestic, commercial and industrial are released through large sewage pipes by means of gravity leading to sewage treatment plants where the wastewater is treated prior to disposing it to the bodies of water. The wastewater treatment is planned and provided by the governing bodies and there are rules and regulations imposed that must be followed by each individual household, commercial establishments and big industrial companies to help preserve the environment.
Almost ninety percent of water distributed to the communities or cities by public supply system or the governing bodies are disposed after use to wastewater disposal system and treated in wastewater treatment plants. These wastewater treatment plants play a major role in keeping the community healthy and pollution free especially when it involves water pollution since it will make sure that the wastewater is treated and cleaned before it is released to the environment. In rural areas however where there is no centralized wastewater treatment and disposing wastewater is normally done by individual homes such as construction of septic tanks and tile fields that stretched into the soil.
Wastewater is used water that contains pollutant substances from human waste, food scraps, oils, soaps and chemicals. Normally the majority of wastewater comes from households such as used water from sinks, showers, toilets, laundry machines and other forms. However, wastewater usually may also come from industries especially in the processing plants where wastewater may contain not only contaminants but heavy chemicals that are harmful to the environment if not treated before releasing it to the environment. Hence, wastewater treatment is a major requirement especially in these instances where untreated water can cause harmful effects to the environment and other living things.
There are major reasons why you should have wastewater treatment. Wastewater if not treated can kill fishes and other plants and animals living in water. And this is very crucial to the fishing industries where most people depend on these for their livelihood. The fishing industry as you all know is a large industry and marine life will suffer if water is polluted. Bodies of water is also used for recreation, such as swimming, boating, picnic activities, sport fishing and other water sporting activities. The scenic and recreation activities that these bodies of water gives make people prefer to live near it and also for commercial businesses such as resorts, hotels and other forms of relaxation.
The main aim of wastewater treatment for septic tanks is to remove much of the suspended solids, pollutants and contaminants before the water is disposed to the environment. Since the decayed solid materials uses up oxygen needed by the plants and animals living in water. Wastewater treatment removes ninety five percent of suspended solids hence this prevents water pollution and helps in the preservation of the environment for future generations.
