SEPTIC TANK
Septic tank is a main part to conserve the ecosystem balance. This is a holding tank of between 5000 and 7000 liters in size. This is very common in those areas which are isolated from the main drainage systems.
The term septic is derived for its facility available to decompose the bacterial growth. The waste water is treated well to neutralize all the harmfull bacteria and reduce pollution to the environment. This is done with the help of some anaerobic bacteria culture inside the tank. The sewage tank workings is very simple. Disposed sewage goes in to the tank and sedimentation takes over here allowing solid waste to compress. The solid is treated with those bacteria and this compacts the solid waste. The leftover water after the impurities that remain are trapped is disposed of through percolation into the soil. The remaining solid waste should be periodically cleared off to increase the working efficiency of the tank.
As the septic tank is constructed to maintain the environmental factors so care should be taken to keep the eco balance. This includes vegetation, microorganisms, soil, stones, atmosphere and natural activities that is included or associated with the sewage tank. Ecosystem which all microbes and bacteria should be managed well and should be toughest about while manufacturing a septic tank. If the ecosystem is hampered all elements this environment is hampered. So it is important to be careful and aware.
As the above mentioned problem can highly affect the surrounding areas creating instability of the ecosystem same is true when waste sewage is not disposed of properly. Sewage treatment is a process of taking out all impurities contaminants from the Disposed water. Discharged liquid may contain various metals and other substances which are dangerous for the environment. The main objective of this process is to make an environmentally safe fluid which will not affect the environment. Sewage is treated in a decentralized system like the sewage tank. Now looking at on the disinfection process it is always big concern to reduce the number of microorganisms in the water to be disposed of back into the environment. Water treatment with chlorine is one of the common processes. The smell coming from the septic tank is a smelly gases is treated with other chemicals so as to change the smell.
Septic tank can have multiple effects on nutrients pH level of water. This affects the biological life in water. A designed well and operating well tank do not have odor. Various designs of sewage tank are invented which can last for many years to come.
Few drawbacks are there such as cooking oils and grease causes the blockage of the inlet. A non biodegradable substance may clog the septic tank. To much water will overload the tank and so it is necessary to clear it up frequently. sewage tank if looked after is very useful for those who are a long way away from the main drainage system but proper maintenance is essential.
